POWERVR Insider WindowEPG Demo

The WindowEPG demo shows a high definition (HD) Electronic Programme Guide (EPG) and channel browser concept illustrating the potential of POWERVR SGX for set-top boxes or digital TVs. It shows the capabilities of SGX531 and other SGX cores, which enable HD GUIs at clock speeds as low as 100MHz.

The channel browser demonstrates multiple video streams (7 channels) composited through OpenGL ES 2.0 API and highlights several advanced post-processing shader effects including various colour filters (incl. sepia and hue), edge filters, advanced per-pixel transition (incl. blur and burning), distortion (incl. water) combined in an animated window with 3D motion and geometry deformation. Additional effects include background video overlay distortion, mirroring, per-pixel specular highlights, transparency, environment mapping and real-time shadows.

The EPG part of this HD demonstration highlights high-quality font rendering with advanced blending effects and shader-based colour customization with a real-time 3D rendered background representative of next generation interactive TV with complex geometry, lighting, texture mapping, displacement mapping and procedural texturing.
